AI BEACON #26 - A Login Is Not a Mandate

Work agents are moving into persistent workspaces.

Anthropic extended Cowork to web and mobile cloud sessions. OpenAI joined apps and files, while Google added asynchronous sandbox execution. Banks supplied early evidence from consequential workflows.

The visible change is continuity. The harder change is delegation.

A session can retain context, tools and scheduled work after the original prompt, but its mandate cannot remain implicit. Workspace providers may gain leverage by binding identity, policy and outcomes inside one session.

The anti-meme is simple: a login is not a mandate. Authentication establishes which agent is acting. A delegation record must bind it to a principal, scope, approval triggers, expiry, revocation and rollback.

Persistent work is becoming the product. Accountable delegation may become the moat.
